Use this easy step-by-step tutorial to learn how to make a Halloween deco mesh wreath. Under $10 to make with supplies from your local dollar store, this really is a unique, festive Halloween wreath for your home.
This DIY Halloween wreath was made with materials from the local Dollar Tree. This black wreath has an emphasis on a spider, so one of the ribbons has a spiderweb design in one of them. If you decide to do a black cat, possibly getting a ribbon with a witch hat would work. A ghost wreath would have ghosts on the ribbon and a ghost as the focus point.
Halloween Deco Mesh Spider Wreath DIY
The deco mesh Halloween wreath is a great way to add Halloween decor to your front door with a front door wreath (or at your side door), or to round out the Halloween decor on your front porch or over your fireplace mantel. Over the fireplace would probably require a larger wreath, so adjust accordingly.
Happy Halloween!
Tips and variations for making this Halloween Deco Mesh Spider Wreath:
● These supplies came from Dollar Tree. You can definitely upgrade to high-quality supplies by purchasing products from one of your local shops that sell crafts, including Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joann. If you want to mix and match and still keep the price down, I’d suggest getting the wreath form from a craft store and the mesh, ribbon, pipe cleaners, and spider from your local dollar store.
● If you would like to keep the ends of your deco mesh from fraying, you will need to fold them over and hot glue the small edge. This is the best way to make for a long-term clean look. It is a good idea if your fabrics are expensive, your wreath takes a lot of time to make, and/or you do not want ragged edges. The V cut used will help stop fraying without the hot glue method.
● The colors chosen were purple deco mesh and black; you could also do orange deco mesh and black, green deco mesh and black, or mix in a third color. Try and stick with Halloween-themed colors.
● The spider on this wreath is placed off center-left. If you prefer, make your off-center right, at the top of the wreath, or at the center of the wreath (which would require making more pipe cleaner twists).
● This festive Halloween mesh wreath is door decor; there is no hanger. As an optional step, if you would like to add a hanger, that is easy enough to do. Use one of the ribbons to tie it on. You could also use the mesh, but be aware of weight sag and take that into account.
● There is no bow on this craft. You can add one if you like, but I honestly do not think it fits. The spider is in place of a bow.

● 1 roll Purple Glitter Mesh (6in x 3yd)
● 1 roll Black Semi-transparent Ribbon (2.5in x 3yd)
● 1 roll Spider Web Ribbon (2.5in x 3yd)

● Medium Spider (approximately 6″)

Halloween Deco Mesh Spider Wreath DIY Directions:
1. Cover your worktop against burns and cuts.
2. Cut the decorative mesh and ribbon into 6 inch long pieces.
3. Cut the ends of the ribbon into a V cut (two 45 degree cuts). This will help reduce fraying.
4. Cut the pipe cleaners in halves or thirds. (I do thirds, so there is no excess on the back, but many people find it easier to do halves.)
5. Roll the mesh pieces.
6. Gather 3 pieces of mesh and/or ribbon, and lay them out, overlapping in the middle.
7. Place a pipe cleaner over the middle, and twist the ends very tightly to secure in the back of the bunch. Repeat this step, alternating designs however you like, until you have 28 pipe cleaner twist bunches.
8. Lay a bunch of the pipe cleaner twists on the front of the work wreath. Take a pipe cleaner twist and wrap the pipe cleaner around the 2 inner wires, and secure in the back by twisting the ends together. You will do 5 bunches on each section of the wreath; except for the last one, you will do 3.
9. Once all of the bunches are on, set the wreath down, and fluff all of the mesh and ribbon until you have your desired look.
10. In the section that only has 3 bunches, push the pipe cleaner twists all to one side so that you have a space for the spider.
11. Apply glue to each of the 4 exposed wires on the wreath form, and set the spider down, pressing firmly, until the spider is secured in place.
12. Display as desired.
