These are an easy-to-make Christmas cookie-flavored (and inspired) jello shot recipe that is perfect to add to your holiday drinks collection. Up the fun department at your Christmas gatherings with these delicious jello shots this Christmas time.
Tips and variations for making this Christmas cookie jello shots recipe:
● You can use Triple Sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier. Each will change the taste slightly but choose according to your personal preference.
● Finish the top layer of your holiday jello shots with real whipped cream and red sprinkles, green sprinkles, a mix of the two, or some other holiday-inspired jimmies or sprinkles just before serving.
● You can play around with the liquor quantities provided it adds up to one cup. The quantities listed in the recipe result in a more Bailey-ish Jello shot whereas you may prefer the butterscotch or orange to be more pronounced.
Some suggested liquor quantities:
¼ cup Butterscotch Liqueur
½ cup Bailey’s Irish Cream
¼ cup Cointreau Liqueur
Or, try 1/3 of a cup of each liquor for a more orange-y taste.
How to Make Jello Shots:
Jello Shots are pretty easy to make. This is the basic recipe anyone can follow:
● 2 packets unflavored gelatin (Knox gelatin or store brand)
● 1 cup of water
● 1 cup of vodka /rum/tequila/whiskey/schnapps/liqueurs (alcohol of choice)
The 1 cup of some sort of spirits is the key. The different flavor combinations of alcoholic beverages are what makes the tasty jello shot varieties when using unflavored gelatin.
The souffle cups are 2oz, and a shot glass is 1oz, 1.5oz, or 2oz normally, so you may get a different number of servings depending on the vessel you use to set the gelatin.
Christmas Cookie Jello Shots Ingredients:
● 1 cup Water
● 2 Unflavored Gelatin Packets (Knox, store brand)
● ¼ cup Butterscotch Liqueur
● 5/8 cup Bailey’s Irish Cream
● 1/8 cup Cointreau Liqueur

● Carefully pour into 2 ounce soufflé cups. Allow some headroom and do not fill to the top.
● Remove any bubbles that may form.
● You may cap your soufflé cups, or wait until the gelatin has set before capping.
● Place in refrigerator to set, approximately 2 hours.
● Garnish with whipped cream and festive sprinkles before serving.

Char, I made these over 24 hours before I served them. Jello shots are pretty darned hardy, so as long as you keep them in your refrigerator, you should be good 2 days out.

You have to use cool whip in a pudding shot or it will NOT set.
Jello shots last a good while in the fridge BUT just like cool whip will get moldy if there’s dairy in them.

I don’t know about using 3 different liqueurs but I used a recipe with milk coconut pudding mix whip cream and rum chata mixed all together it was like 1/2 cup milk 8oz of whip cream 1 package of coconut pudding mix and 1 cup of rum chats so I imagine if you used the 3 and make a cup it would work

Can you substitute the butterscotch liqueur with something else?

Joanne if you substitute more Baileys, it will taste like a Baileys Shot. If you use more orange liqueur, it is going to taste orange-y. Maybe Caramel Schnapps? Vanilla Vodka perhapse? Or Whipped Cream Vodka? Something that is going to stay with the cookie flavoring.
Caveat: I have not tried any of those suggestions.

I have made and tried several different types of jello shots and they have all come out great! I am going to give this recipe a try very soon. To respond to Joanne, above, there is a sugar cookie vodka, if you can find it in your area, that would probably work very well! 🙂 I know around here the sugar cookie vodka is a little difficult to find, but that is one of my favorite flavored vodkas! No, it isn’t. It is easiest to figure at 1/2 cup + 1/8th cup. That is why I suggest using one cup and filling it with the 3 liquor combo listed. That is the key Lisa – do not go over 1 cup on the liquors.

Cindy, there is 16 ounces of liquid in this recipe. I use 2-ounce souffle cups that are not filled to the top, and get 10 – 12 servings. If you only got five servings, those shots would be 3oz each (filled to the top). So basically 3 shot glasses in one jello shot.

Liz, I can see where they think they are chewier… but jello shots generally are a more ruberized version of jello. I gave these out to approximately 40+ people (two different functions), and no one complained about the chewy. One place (a party) just popped them like a jello shot (think back to when you were 21) and at another spot, they used a spoon (a blogger meet-up).
I am extremely concerned about using only 1 packet of gelatin with the 2 cups of liquid. I’d worry it would not set (and unfortunately no one has reported back whether it did set with such a reduction in gelatin). My guess (just a guess, as I have not tried it) is to keep these proportions, but add another 1/2 cup of liquid – be it liquor or the water step. I bet that would make them less chewy, and they’d still hold fast.
If you DO change the liquid (or gelatin) proportions, could you please report back so people would have some idea how that would work out? I’d really appreciate it.

Ok……I made these yesterday for a Christmas Party and I did 1 1/2 packets of gelatin instead of 2. They set fine. They weren’t rubbery at all but were VERY thick and solid. I would even maybe lower the gelatin a little more next time. Everyone loved them but I wonder if they would be even better with 1-1 1/4 packets
If you are making these and don’t have time to experiment, go with the 1 1/2.
I will post if I make them with even less gelatin.

I just made these for a holiday bus tour. They came out very thick. Not sure they are going to be easy to eat without a spoon especially with the whipped cream. Next time I would definitely use less gelatin. Also even out the liquor amounts. It tastes like a Bailey’s shot.

Well, I guess I should have read the comments. I found this recipe on Pinterest and made these jello shots for a Christmas-themed murder mystery party. I followed the recipe exactly as it is written, and like everyone else has said, the jello shots come out waaaaay too firm and rubbery. We had to dig them out with a spoon, but nothing could save the chewy texture. I think next time, I am going to go for an instant vanilla-flavored jello instead of plain Knox gelatin and follow a basic/traditional jello shot recipe but use the alcohol flavors listed here. I think that would taste better, and the texture should be like a traditional jello shot.
