Welcome to Ann’s Entitled Life! A lifestyle blog.
My name is Ann. I am married to a wonderful man, Hubby, and I also have a son who is now over 30!, Sonny-boy, from a prior marriage. Sonny-boy is now married and I am anxiously awaiting grandchildren… Sonny-boy tells me it is going to be a very long wait.
We recently moved to Florida. I had lived in New York State my whole life before the move, so it is quite a change. We had previously had a condo in the St Augustine area as snowbirds but settled on the Gulf Coast after a very intensive search.
We have done some work on our Florida home. I talk renovations, here.
(This post chats about our Florida home’s outdoor renovation)
While the summers are unbearably hot and humid, the winter does cool down a lot. We can sit out on the lanai year-round, but the fans need to be going in the summer months, and we do need a heater in December and January.
We currently live in a golf course community and it can be highly entertaining. Especially when the golfers come into our backyard and play an out of bounds ball (that’s a no-no). We do collect the stray golf balls that land in our yard… a surprising number are found in our front yard. My brother appreciates the donation.
In our spare time, we garden, cook and bake, we travel, we enjoy a little vino or the occasional cocktail. I say spare time because even though Hubby and I are technically retired (we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to retire from a day-to-day job/career in our 40s), our life is so very full! I sometimes wonder when it was we had the time to work.
Ann’s Entitled Life is my second blog creation. I have been blogging since 2007. This blog is a for-profit venture (something has to pay for hosting, VAs, etc.), so while Hubby and I are technically retired, this blog is my job. How do I square that? To me, retirement means the freedom to do as you want daily without working. Not depending on a job for a livelihood – in other words, labor-producing work is for enjoyment or specific purpose and not simply paycheck-focused. What Does Retirement Mean To You?
For many years I wrote about our spunky little dog named Max, who suffered from Granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis (GME). Max passed away at the beginning of November 2018. You can read about the dreadful disease he suffered from by clicking here (at the bottom of the post are all the GME related links).
Our next dog, Frankie, also passed away from encephalitis. Poor little Frankie was with us only briefly, but he left a big hole in our hearts.
I can always be reached through my contact me page or by emailing me directly! You can also email me at [email protected]
