Flag Wineglass DIY
Make your own unique patriotic flag wineglasses! This easy step by step tutorial will show you how to easily make “American flag” wineglass decor which are perfect for a centerpiece, mantel decor or table decorations. This is an easy to make craft project.
If you read this blog regularly, you may have noticed I love these simple to make wineglass crafts! They make excellent tabletop, centerpiece, and fireplace decor. You can make one, three or a dozen. The colors can vary (well, usually, for this one I would stick with the red, white and blue), and no two wineglasses have to look exactly alike, although they can if that is the look you would like to achieve.
You can see all the different painted wineglass crafts by clicking here. However, if you are in the summer season, this DIY Pineapple Candle Holder is something you may want to consider – or perhaps this adorable (it is one of my favorites!) Love Bug Wineglass DIY.
I have eight wineglass crafts to date ecompassing most holidays or seasons, and the reason is because these painted wine glass crafts are simple to make, fun, and are finished in no time flat. Truly just about any adult can make them.
Flag Wineglass DIY Materials:
● 3 Wineglass (the same size for this craft)
● Enamel Paint: red, white, and blue were used in this craft
● Foam Paint Brush
● Foam Star Stamp
● Small Easel or Paper Plate
● Small Flat Paint Brush
● Hot Glue
● Glue Gun
● Tea Lights
Flag Wineglass DIY Directions:
● Lay down a covering to protect your work surface.
● Glue the Foam Star Stamp to the top of a craft paint bottle to make the star easier to handle.
● Paint the inside of two wineglasses white with your foam paint brush.
● Allow to dry.
● Paint the outside of two wineglasses white with your foam paint brush.
● Allow to dry.
● Paint the inside of one wineglass blue with your foam paint brush.
● Allow to dry.
● Paint the outside of one wineglass blue with your foam paint brush.
● Allow to dry.
● Note: on any of these painted wineglass decorations if you feel one coat of paint is not enough coverage (even with painting the inside and outside), just allow the first coat of paint to dry completely, then add a second, thin coat for more complete coverage. Allow to dry completely.
● Turn the painted wineglasses upside down.
● Paint four or five red strips around the bowl of each of the white wineglases. Leave white space in between (see photograph). You want it to remind people of the red and white in the flag so: red, white, red, white, etc.
● Allow to dry.
● Paint a second coat of red over the red stripes.
● Allow to dry.
● Note: These shown were done freehand. You may (I did not try it) want to use green frog tape or some other gentle paint-tape to help guide your lines for the red stripes.
● Squirt a small amount of white paint onto a easel or paper plate.
● Dip your foam star stamp into the white paint, and stamp several stars onto the bowl of your blue glass.
● Allow to dry.
● Top off with a tea light candle. If you want to use a flameless tea light, that would like lovely too.
● Set these cute little wineglasses in the middle of your table, on your fireplace mantel or an end table for a great Independence Day decoration!
