Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls will enjoy the fanciful graveyard scene on this tasty trifle recipe. The step-by-step instructions on how to make this graveyard trifle recipe are easy to follow. If you are looking for an easy Halloween dessert recipe your whole family will enjoy, this trifle is for you!
Graveyard Trifle Recipe
I love trifle. My aunt’s English trifle recipe is one of my favorite desserts! While a trifle takes a bit of time to bake and assemble, you can cut down the time by substituting a store-bought cake (or chocolate pound cake) and pre-made pudding. At that point, it is assembled and serve.
Tips and variations for making this graveyard trifle recipe:
● This trifle, as made, is family (re: kid) friendly. If your target audience is adults, replace the chocolate milk with Baileys Irish Cream or Kahlúa or your favorite coffee liquor.
● If you use a different brand of cake mix than Duncan Hines, follow the instructions for making that cake mix.
● A dark cake was used. You can substitute white or yellow colors, but it will make for a lighter graveyard. Probably not something you want for Halloween.
● Any thawed whipped topping brand, such as Cool Whip or a store brand, will work.
● Oreo cookies were used. Any dark cookie you enjoy can be used.
● While jello instant pudding is shown in the making of this trifle, any brand of instant pudding will work.
● Sugar-free instant pudding may be substituted for the fully-leaded variety.
● The amount of gummy worms and candy pumpkins you use is up to you. You may also want to look for spiders, bugs, centipede, etc. gummies.

1. Place a layer of cake squares at the bottom of the trifle bowl.
2. Pour about ¼ cup of the chocolate milk all over the cake squares.
3. Next slather ½ of the prepared chocolate mousse all over the milk-soaked cake squares.
4. Top the mousse layer with ½ of the crumbled Oreo cookies.
5. Repeat the same layers again – cake squares, milk, mousse, and crumbled Oreos.
