This happy little winter ice blue bucket craft comes together quickly and easily for a sweet little side table decor piece that is perfect for the winter season. I have this in my foyer to give the endurance a pop of color for the winter season.
Winter Ice Blue Bucket Craft
This is an icy-cool little bucket craft that is a great display piece from November through March. Even if you do not decorate for the holidays you can make and make this! The crystals are reminiscent of snowflakes, and the silver and blue sparkles and shines like light bouncing off the new-fallen snow.
I have had this for several years now. My front foyer has gone from Christmasy to wintery during the last few years. I decided to go with silver and blue for the cool, fresh winter snow-feel. While I have painted pine cones in a basket and lanterns in the foyer, I needed something small to set amongst them to “pop!”
This matches well with the snowflake bead wreath as well as the let is snow wreath!
Best part? I decorate right after Thanksgiving and do not take anything down until Easter. This has been important to me given how much we travel during the winter. I wanted the foyer to be timely, but not have to take the time after Christmas to take down decorations and then redecorate for another season.
Tips and variations for making this Winter Ice Blue Bucket Craft:
● How much floral you will need will depend on the size of your bucket.
● This is beautiful in ice blue, but other choices would be sparkly white and silver, or peach and silver. Silver is colder than gold, but everything is a personal preference.
● Great for a teacher’s gift, for someone in a nursing home, or for grandma!
Winter Ice Blue Bucket Craft Materials:
● Small Blue Bucket (metal)
● Floral Foam
● Ice Blue Florals (Poinsettas were used)
● Sparkly Silver Florals
● Sparkly Silver Bird
● Ice Blue Wired Ribbon
Winter Ice Blue Bucket Craft Tools:
● Glue Gun
● Hot Glue
● Wire Cutters
Winter Ice Blue Bucket Craft Directions:
● Cover your work area against burns, and plug in your glue gun.
● Fit a piece of floral foam into your bucket, and then hot glue the floral foam in place.
● Cut down blue poinsettias (or any frosted blue faux floral flower of your choice). Insert the cut floral into the floral foam. You want these low to the bucket, and place three to surround your bucket. You are forming a ring around the bucket lip with the flowers. Rotate your piece 360 to make sure you have covered much of the rim of the bucket. Note: you may want to hold back on hot gluing in place until you have a better idea where your other floral pieces are going to go. You can always lift out and glue as you laid the pieces out, or glue to the sides.
● Insert sparkly picks in for height.
● Insert sparkly snowflake picks and silver crystal picks. Make sure you are building up. How high will depend on the size bucket you chose. You want this proportioned well, but not a tower. This was done as a small craft.
● If you have not yet done so, hot glue in place. You do not have to hot glue at all, but it will hold better if you do.
● Insert the sparkly silver bird. Hot glue in place.
● Clip leaves from your frosted blue flowers and insert the stems into the floral foam to hide any holes. Remember to turn your craft so you can see how it looks from all sides. How glue leaves in place.
● Tie an ice blue wired ribbon around the bucket, and hot glue in place with a dab of hot glue.
● Tie the ribbon in a bow or square knot, cut the ends on a diagonal to finish off this craft.
● Display as desired.
