The great thing about deco mesh is its versatility – you can find it in a variety of autumnal colors and patterns to suit your style. Start by selecting a wire wreath form and your desired deco mesh. Cut the mesh into long strips, then simply scrunch and twist the strips, securing them to the wreath form as you go. In the end, you will have a lovely deco mesh fall wreath!
With just a few basic supplies and a little bit of creativity, you can craft a beautiful autumn deco mesh wreath to hang on your door or display proudly in your living space.
Tips and variations for making this homemade autumn deco mesh wreath:
● They do make work wreaths in different colors depending on where you get your supplies. But the main craft stores usually only have the green ones. The stems blend in well with Christmas wreaths but not so much with other seasonal wreaths. But if you make your wreath full enough and make sure to tuck in all the stems, you should not be able to see them when the wreath is hanging. There are more colors of work wreaths available online, but usually in the 15″ size.
● There is an alternative way to make a deco mesh wreath with pipe cleaners. I have instructions on how to use chenille stems to make mesh wreaths on this deco mesh wreath tutorial.
● There are 10″ and 12″ deco mesh ribbon widths.
● If you use flower bunches strip them before starting. You will be using leaves, so detach them from the flower stems and lay the flowers aside.
● This diy fall deco mesh wreath is made with fairly neutral colors. You can add pops of yellow or orange, which work well on fall wreaths, and add focus against the neutral shades.
● To prevent the ends of your deco mesh from fraying, fold them over and hot glue the small edge. This is the best way to achieve a long-term clean look. It is a good idea if your fabrics are expensive, your wreath takes a lot of time to make, and/or you do not want ragged edges. A V cut will help stop fraying without the hot glue method.
● This festive fall mesh wreath is door decor; there is no hanger. As an optional step, if you would like to add a hanger, that is easy enough to do. Use one of the ribbons to tie it on. You could also use the mesh, but be aware of weight sag and take that into account.
● This craft does not have a bow. You can add one if you like, but I honestly do not think it fits. You may feel otherwise. This is your wreath; customize it to your taste.
● This is an easy-to-make door decoration. If your door is exposed to the elements, or you are hanging this on an unenclosed front porch (or back porch), it may only last one season.
● Supplies for this wreath can be found at your local craft store or the big box stores such as Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joann. If you want to keep the price down, I’d suggest looking at the flowers and ribbon at your local dollar store.

Autumn Deco Mesh Wreath Instructions:
1. Cover your worktop against burns and cuts.
2. Prep the work wreath by unwrapping all the stems from the wreath and separating them to make adding the deco mesh easier and faster.
3. Starting on the inside ring, use a set of stems to secure the end of the deco mesh.
4. Then, create puffs of the deco mesh by pinching and folding the sides of the mesh together and securing them with the next set of stems. The length of the mesh between the “pinches” should be about twice the distance between the two sets of stems. (Give or take, depending on how full you like your puffs.)
5. Once you have gone all the way around the inner ring (making sure to cover up the beginning of the roll), move your mesh down to the outer ring and repeat.
6. Finish off the mesh by securing it with the first set of stems from the outer ring, cut, and tuck underneath.
7. Next, cut several squares from the leftover deco mesh. Roll up each square and pinch in the middle. Secure with work wreath stems to fill out any empty spaces.
8. Cut your four ribbons into equal strips. I like mine at about 12″ to give them room to curl a bit but not hang down too much. Set your piles to the side.
9. Take two ribbons at a time, lay them together to form an X, and pinch them in the middle. Secure a set of ribbons into each set of stems, and then tuck the rest of the stem underneath the wreath. If you forget to tuck them. just back later and do it. Tucking them as soon as you add the ribbon is easier, however.
10. Detach the leaves from the flowers and glue the autumn leaves into the mesh and ribbons to create a green background for your flowers.
11. Glue on autumn flowers to fill in any remaining gaps.
12. Display as desired on a wreath hanger on your front door or on an interior home wall.
