Striped Sugar Cookies Recipe
These are a lot easier to make than the steps would have you think. They are a basic sugar cookie jazzed up and layered. You can change the food colors to anything you like (or leave the dough uncolored), and have these any time of year!
Striped Sugar Cookies Recipe Notes:
● Always use parchment paper when baking, not wax paper. Parchment paper is heat resistant (coated with silicone), and wax paper is not. Parchment paper helps to even out baking too.
● One of my favorite places to get different sprinkles/jimmies is at our local Amish and Mennonite grocery stores. They have a huge selection prepacked, and some of them I have never seen anywhere else. You may want to check your local store! Hubby cringes when I walk into one of the stores because he knows I cannot resist (you cannot imagine my collection of sprinkles and jimmies). They are better than the local bakery supply stores!
● To achieve a brighter color for your layers you may want to consider using gel food coloring instead of food coloring. You can definitely use traditional food coloring (it was used in this recipe), but the gel food coloring gives a more vibrant color if that is the look you are seeking.
