As many of you know, I used to be a deal blogger. I still technically am I guess, as I do post deals on Coupons, Deals and More daily. Still I don’t do as much as I used to, and most deals I post now are online offers. And I now identify as a “lifestyle” or “content” blogger due to Ann’s Entitled Life.
But, the last few weeks things have heated up with Black Friday deals! and I have been posting a lot more. Some stores have posted their flyers online, some stores have emailed them directly to their affiliates, and this year it just seems like the stores are a tad more desperate for your holiday dollars. This very well could be because Thanksgiving is so late this year, the Christmas shopping season isn’t even four weeks long. The Black Friday ads are a rolling out early in a big way.
Do You Shop On Black Friday? I don’t usually leave the house on Black Friday. I can shop juuuuuuuuuuust fine from my computer and not have to worry about getting my purse stolen or trampled in a rush.
Many moons ago I did go out – back when it really wasn’t another “national holiday” and Sonny-boy was little. And Hubby and I have gone out a few times together too. But, it seems the sales aren’t as great (or I am just not interested), there are fewer doorbuster quantities available, and I am just too old to go wait in a line at 5am (and now Thanksgiving afternoon!?) to save 50 bucks. It is no longer worth it to me. Sure if you have little kids multiple 50 bucks can add up fast, so that may very well be worth the trip to the store on Black Friday, but I don’t have small children or grandchildren, so it’s not worth it to me.
Now that is not to say I don’t shop on Black Friday – I do. And sometimes quite a bit. It is just that now all of my Black Friday shopping takes place online.
I also do a lot of online shopping before Thanksgiving too. I swear I’ve been spending like a drunken sailor getting goods for our Florida Condo set-up, trying to gather as many of the Essentials For Setting Up a Household as I can, for less.
I love the smell of desperate retailers during the holidays!
Black Friday is November 29, 2013 this year. Will you be out among the masses? Will you be shopping online? Do you shop on Black Friday?

I’ve been known to shop online on Black Friday.. but other than that.. no way!
Many years ago, maybe 10 years I too my step-daughter shopping on Black Friday once.. and it was to K-Mart which was 2 miles from our house.. It wasnt really bad at all.. but I’ve not done it since either..
I dont enjoy shopping much at all except for online so thats what I tend to stick to most of the time.

I am not a big shopper either, Kim. I don’t mind grocery shopping (and we all know I’ve had coupon highs), but mall shopping? Not-so-much.

This year I have already purchased all of my son’s gifts. I bought all but one on Amazon, and only bought the one in a store because of a sale and gift card combo deal. I have gone black Friday shopping in the past, but this year I refuse to give up my thanksgiving no matter what I could save. I will probably venture out either late at night after family has gone home and the munchkin is in bed, but if I miss out on a deal I won’t be heartbroken this year. Inoperable the dinner time shopping on thanksgiving day isn’t repeated next year
Stephanie B says
“i hope” not inoperable….stupid smart phone

ROFL… I love Dumb Phone Auto-corrects… Have you seen the latest auto-correct pass around? Its way way way too funny…. but not for general public consumption. 😛

I honestly don’t get the Thanksgiving B&M thing – not when online Thanksgiving has been the #1 or #2 online shopping day the last buncha years. Why cede that?

I look at the ads & think, “Wow, could get some good deals.” But the only place I might go is Fred Meyer for socks. I guess that’s the one Christmas tradition. Everyone gets socks in their stockings & almost every year I buy them at Freddie’s on Black Friday. I head out at o’dark thirty & buy them quick & head home. It’s close to home & kind of an easy shop (generally ~ one year they were lined up outside the door. I turned around & went back home. Paid a higher price for socks that year!!)
I will however be online………….I love to shop online. Who can beat free shipping most of the time & delivery to your door? I mean really!! It’s awesome. I’ll have to look & see if there are some sock deals online. Find some & I won’t be going to Freddies on Black Friday. No way. No how.

YAY! for online Black Friday shopping!

Donna says
No, No, Hell NO!! (Except to Walgreens, which is 1/2 mile away and serves a very limited area of customers. So that doesn’t really count to me.)
Ann says
Hmmmm you sound unsure, Donna! LOL Can’t blame you, at all!

I’ve been getting about one good (or great!) deal a day online since beginning November- and LOVE IT. Nope for me- no BF shopping except in my pjs from home. And cyber Monday, and really everyday while the sales are so hot!!

Me too, Meryl! Me too!

As we usually travel for thanksgiving, no I don’t shop black friday. But I may do CVS/Walgreens, as they are about a mile from my home and not much right there that would be crazy. I will be doing the food pantry at church too, so maybe I will do CVS/Walgreens, or maybe I won’t. Don’t know for sure. Certainly won’t be shopping on Thanksgiving. I am shocked by how many stores are do Thanksgiving day black friday sales.
Ann says
CVS is pretty bad this year, Skirnir (IMO). Walgreens is fantastic if you can use the stuff. So far my only temptation is the home improvement card deal (again) at Rite Aid.
And, I agree with you re: Thanksgiving B&M shopping. Why? Just why?
