Well, actually is Happy Birthday to Ann’s Entitled Life! One year ago today I began this journey on Ann’s Entitled Life after my blogging disaster on Coupons, Deals and More. I began with a Laugh For Today, (what else?) and moved on to welcoming you all the next day!
If anyone is wondering why the name, this post explains a lot!
Since it has been a whole year, I’d like this to be a state-of-the-blog-post!
This blog is ever-evolving. My brain still works in “deal blog” mode sometimes (ok a lot of the time) – I must work on a schedule, I must post every day (I killed those brain cells quickly), I must content blog at least five times a week.
If you follow a lot of single-person blogs (you know, the people who work on their blog all by themselves), you have probably noticed that most lifestyle/content bloggers blog three posts a week, sometimes four posts, maximum. I currently post six days a week, although one day (Saturday) is a round-up post. I currently schedule 13 more posts per week – 5 laughs (believe it or not, those take a while to do! and the facebook GROUP gets the ones that are not fit for blog consumption), 5 content; 2 recipes, 1 liquor and 2 in some other category, and 3 “yappy” posts per week. I really need to get into “content blogger” mode and cut back the posting some, but I doubt I will anytime soon.
This blog doesn’t currently monetize. When appropriate, I drop an affiliate link into a post, but I think there are less than a dozen affiliate links total on this blog. I seriously, work for comments!! I love to chat with you all! I’ve contemplated changing my tagline from “The Confessions of a Pooky Princess” to “I Work For Blog Comments!” One of my blogging buddies suggested I change the entire blog name to “I Work For Comments”. I think she is on to something. So please, take pity on me and stop me from talking to myself – post a comment and chat every once in a while. I truly appreciate it when you do.
Everyone has a blogging goal. Or we are supposed to. Or something. I had to come up with a blogging goal because the blogging-gods said I needed to. Or something.
So here it is… my blogging goal:
Blogging goal: To get on board with a few big-time liquor company blogging ambassadorships.
How’s that for thinking BIG? If nothing else, I aim high.
Actually, the wine and liquor reviews and recipes are why Ann’s Entitled Life doesn’t monetize. Most publisher passive ad networks (like google, yahoo, etc) frown on liquor posts. You get kicked off if you do them. When I set up Ann’s Entitled Life, I made a conscious decision to post what I wanted to post, and not have to worry about what an ad network or company thought.
You may wonder if I pay for all of this – hosting, programmers, newsletter, etc., etc, out of pocket. I don’t actually. As luck would have it, a few months after Coupons, Deals and More went down, the US Government approved my Trademark application that had been made 6-8 months prior. My attorney told me to bring Coupons, Deals and More back in some form. So, I did. Coupons, Deals and More not only pays for itself, it pays for everything to do with Ann’s Entitled Life too, as Coupons, Deals and More is monetized (highly monetized).
For year two I hope to do a few more gardening posts, and a few less renovation posts. All I can think of is PLLLLLLLLLEASE let the renovations be over already! And if anyone would like Ask Hubby to come back, I need questions. Remember Ask Hubby will deal with: cooking, finance (he was an investment banker in a former life), renovations, and more! Just email me here and make the subject line “Ask Hubby”. I am happy to keep your name out of the post if you request it!
If you have any ideas for a new series, please post! I love new ideas. Just remember, I have NO talent for crafts, and book reviews bombed in the past because I like smut-books (what my uncle calls romance novels), and no one else does. (Although if you want to read a hilarious one, read The Rosie Project (I made that an affiliate link!))
I want to thank you all for reading Ann’s Entitled Life! Without you, I would have no reason to blog. And remember – don’t be afraid to comment! The first one I have to approve, after that (provided you use the same email address only I can see), you are golden!

Hey Ann, I see lots of bloggers selling their own ad space using the oiopublisher WP plugin. That might be something you could look into. Anyway, congratulations on your blogging birthday!
Ann says
Thanks Dan! And we are still loving your beautiful glasses!

Hi Ann!
I sure do miss chatting with you! Happy birthday to Ann’s Entitled Life! I have to say that I could have written about half of your post! Transitioning from deal blogging to lifestyle is hard! I find myself trying to post everyday and it gets to be cumbersome. I may drop Sunday to start! I am scheduled with content posts two weeks ahead now – which is HUGE for me!
I always look forward to reading your posts! Miss you!

I miss you too, Renae! Darn your real job and how it interferes with your blogging, and more importantly, skyping. You do have wonderful help in Lista though.

Happy birthday/anniversary! I must confess, that while I go to Coupons Deals and More at least once a week, I still click on Sunday Shopping…just in case. It doesn’t seem like a year. Man, time flies!
Ann says
I know, Marie, doesn’t seem like a year to me either. What I REALLY can’t believe is how I couponed and taught for so many years, and how I just … stopped. And I don’t mind that I stopped (Hubby may mind, but I don’t.)

Thanks, Debb! I am hoping those gardening posts take over for the renovation posts. I am heartily sick of renovations. LOL
