I have written many times in the past about all of Hubby’s kitchen gadgets and toys, his truck with the 8′ bed , and even alluded to all his tools and trinkets for “manly guy stuff repairs”. There is nothing (not even chocolate or cookies) that Hubby likes more than a good gadget or toy.
We have been married for 8 years now. In that time we have gone through three blenders, and always end up reverting back to my grandmother’s 50+ year-old Osterizer blender! They sure don’t make ’em like they used to! But, as was bound to happen with a 50+ year-old kitchen appliance, my grandmother’s old Osterizer blender finally bit the dust. That meant we now had no back up to whatever new (and not necessarily cheap) blender Hubby would purchase that would inevitably die (and lead us back to the Osterizer).
So, I decided this time I’d pay up (and pay up I did!) and I got a Blendtec before Hubby could quasi-pay and bring in something that wasn’t going to last.
After reading about a bazillion reviews on Amazon, the Blendtec site, and via google, I ended up with this puppy!
Blend Rewards
The Designer 725 rewards users for continued use through our exclusive Blend Rewards program. The 725 tracks each number of completed blends, then displays a code once certain blending milestones are reached. The code can be redeemed online for recipe books, gift cards, kitchen utensils, jar discounts, and more.
Wow! That’s soooooo cool! I guess I should turn it on, huh?
Hubby was remarking that this is the first “toy” I have purchased for the kitchen. He recognizes that he’s the one with the gadget-habit. I just got sick of wasting money on cheaper blenders that didn’t hold up more than a year or two, and believe me when I say we are not heavy blender users, so that was totally ridiculous!
Hubby thought I was nuts to pay up for this Blendtec, but he’s warmed up to it quickly. Odds are heavy that he uses it before I do. Actually, that is probably a suckers-bet. I am sure he will use it first. Unless I need to to make a cocktail, that is.
Do you have a Blendtec? If so, what is your favorite use for it?

No I don’t have a Blendtec, I have a Ninja and I love it. They are much cheaper and pretty darn good. I love the extra set of blades it has. It does a lot of stuff a food processor does with the blades like that. It also has single serve blender cups that are great for smoothies. I am not really a smoothie person, but I do make frozen coffee drinks sometimes. The key to making them is to freeze coffee into ice cube trays. Then just add some milk and blend away!
I am sure you will like it. Will you be blending up anything special like the guy on the YouTube videos?

Ha! Nope, unlikely, Shell. My workout for this will be ice for cocktails, I am sure. Hubby has a juicer he seldom uses, so I am hoping he uses this one for smoothies as I put it on top of the cupboard so it WILL get used.
A Ninja you say? Hmmm I should have asked for advice here first, methinks.
