Monday is Memorial Day. A time of remembrance to reflect and honor those that have served protecting our country. Many parades, ceremonies, cook-outs and weekend entertainments will ensue!
Hubby and I usually have people over on Memorial Day. This year the house is a bit of a disaster, so we decided not to have a get together. We will do Father’s Day (which we usually do), but I’m not sure the place will be in any better shape… it quite honestly may be worse off. I’m not sure when the floors in the living room, dining room and family room will begin. And as far as the upstairs carpeting… who knows! I do have an electrician scheduled for the chandelier install (before and after pictures to come). At least our family room cabinets are finished (whoopie).
Needless to say, having 20 or so people over isn’t high on my to-do list this weekend!
I would love to drag Hubby to the movies, but since we already went twice this month (Ironman and Star Trek), I’d say the odds are pretty slim I’ll get him back before Superman opens.
A drive is always a possibility for us. We love to partake of all the fabulous things there are to do in Buffalo, Niagara Falls and the rest of WNY! And since Max enjoys a ride too… that is a real possibility!
Do you have any plans this holiday weekend?

The unofficial start to summer – wooo! I go to a Memorial Day potluck every year on Sunday hosted by family friends (love traditions!) and then Monday I plan on seeing The Fast and The Furious. Zoom, zoom. =)

Yeah summer… 90º two days ago, 60º for a high today! What a wacko spring we are having.
Ohhh The Fast and The Furious… I think The Rock is hot. Have a great time!

I am so tired lately, been working real hard. Son and daughter-in-law invited me to see a movie, Ironman, no thanks, not my kind of movie. I think I will relax and Sunday go see the movie Mud. It is getting great reviews.
Ann says
Mud gets rave reviews! Let me know how you like it Candie.

If it’s not raining, I will be doing a yard sale on Saturday morning, but other than that, I have no plans. Hubby is going to our “camp” in Pennsylvania with his dad, he will be hanging out while his dad and a buddy go hunting (hubby is too cheap to buy a license in PA). He hasn’t decided if he’s taking one, both, or neither of the kids, so I really can’t make any plans. At least he’s waiting until Saturday evening to go, that way I get some help setting up the yard sale. I would like to hang out at my parent’s house by the grill with some fun drinks, but my dad is trying to lose weight since my grandfather asked him to be his best man. Funny story – my grandmother passed away in October, my grandfather (78) was engaged before Christmas, and now he’s getting married in July! The best part is that grandpa’s fiancee is a year older than my dad (56)!!! It makes me giggle. I should mention that my grandfather is extremely active and still works as a tow truck and flatbed operator for AAA on call every day, but still… 🙂

Hey, at 78 he really can’t wait. I hope he has a long second marriage. 🙂

Stephanie! Haha! Love it!
We’re having a scaled down bbq this year on Sunday.. Most years we have a huge blow-out with all sorts of meats on the grill, but this year we’re just going with burgers, dogs, mussels, Charro beans & chips. Lots of sides & most everyone brings a dish to share. A few GF’s have specific dishes they are “required” to bring.. We’d all cry if they didnt.. haha. Norma brings the BEST potato salad (I dont like PS but I love hers), Angie brings a pasta salad, & Tammi brings a casada cake which really isnt a casada cake but a trifle. Tammi & Norma may not come to the party unless they bring those two things.. haha..and they have to come.. its required! Great friends huh. 😉 I dont eat pasta salad so I dont care what Angie brings.. haha
Im also planning on making a bunch of Sad Cake.. yummy similar to blond brownies.. We all love them. I should be doing that now.. or cleaning off my sanctuary patio.. Guess I should get off the computer & get after it. Tables & chairs coming later this afternoon!

Cassata cake or trifle!? What’s not to like?
Sounds like you’re going to have a great party, Kim!

Yeah.. We usually get between 75 & 100 people here… some stay all day & into the night & some dont.. D & I are usually running around like crazy people.. but Im thinking there will be much less of that this year, thank God! 😉 Sometimes it just gets too darn big for me & D to enjoy it much. I think we’re going to enjoy this one!
