Order has been restored to the world! Twinkies will return to store shelves on July 15th!
Last year a battle between Hostess and their baker’s union lead to the bankruptcy and break up of Hostess Brands, Inc. That meant a lot of our favorite artificially-infused foods, including the ever popular Twinkies, were no longer available to those craving snack foods that would survive a nuclear holocaust. Now, junk food addicts worldwide are rejoicing over the return of their much beloved snack.
And those of you on eBay that were selling a box for upwards of $600 may want to end those auctions soon. With the return of Twinkies, I am pretty sure those fanciful prices will burst completely!
With this exciting-news for Twinkies lovers everywhere, I have to ask: what favorite food from the past do you wish would return today!?
For me, it is hands down Mr. Wonderful’s Surprise! Easily the best cereal ever, my mother would buy two boxes of cereal for us (there were three children at that time) on her bi-weekly shopping trip, and by the next morning we had run through an entire box! You’d find my brother, sister and I bouncing off the walls, high on sugar and watching cartoons several Saturdays a month when I was a kid, all courtesy of that chocolatey goodness known as Mr. Wonderful’s Surprise! Believe me when I tell you that even though I am sure it would hurt my teeth and add to the waistline at my age, I’d still tough it out and eat Mr. Wonderful’s Surprise! if it were ever brought back on the market in its original form!

I couldn’t care less about Twinkies, in fact my mother was horrified when she offered to buy some for my kids about two years ago and they had no idea what Twinkies were. My kids were 8 and 6 at the time, and she said I was a terrible mother for never letting them have Twinkies! The food I miss most is also a cereal, it sort of has come back, but is in no way the same… Berry Berry Kix.

My grandparents loved those Kix, then they changed formula… then, not so much!

I’m with Stephanie K., I’d rather leave them. The chocolate filled Twinkies were alright when they had them. I’d rather have the Ding Dong, or as I lovingly called it a hockey puck since it was roughly the same color, shape, size and weight. But they are now dry and crumbly. So I wish for them to come back when they were moist. Other than that, I can’t think of anything I miss that much.

I like Ho Hos myself, and they are returning. I am lucky. 😉

Uh oh…I’m another who doesn’t care for Twinkies.
Now those powdered sugar coated mini cake donuts??: That’s another story.
Ann says
LOL I think a lot of the Hostess hunk food line is returning, Barbee. You may be in luck!

The only Twinkie I ever had that was good was a DEEP FRIED TWINKIE.. haha.. It was GOOD! Shockingly so.. I’d have never believed it if I haddnt tasted it with my own taste buds. 😉
I wish they’d bring back Yum Yums cookies.. They were a bar type of a cookie that was very much like Girl Scouts Samoas but MORE MORE Yummy & Better!! More Gooey.. more Caramely.. More Everything! I dont like ANY commercial variety of cookies.. but these were amazing!
