5 Minute Craft: Easter Eggs Magnet
I have a bunch of these easy 5 minute crafts coming in 2019. They are super-duper cute and very easy to make. My niece came up with this idea after spotting these sweet little magnetic containers at Bed, Bath and Beyond. So, we made one. We were both thrilled with how it came out (it is a Christmas one), but the cost of the magnetic container was $5.99 (well, $4.80 after the 20% off coupon EVERYONE uses when they shop BB&B), and so even though that first magnet was simple and cute, we were undecided if we wanted to do more.
One day soon after we did the first craft, guess what!? She found them at the dollar store! One. Dollar. This whole entire craft costs about $2 to make, and it was done in 5 minutes. Crafting doesn’t get any better than this!
So get thee to your local dollar store and stock up on these magnetic containers because I have got a number of these little crafts coming… one for every season and a buncha holidays. They really are adorable.
Here’s the heart magnet (Valetine’s day, sweetest day, bridal shower) 5 Minute Craft: Valentine’s Day Heart Magnet I posted in January.
Places where you can buy the jot containers online if you can’t find them in your local dollar store:
● Dollar Tree (bulk only)
● Amazon
● These are a little different at the container store
5 Minute Craft: Easter Eggs Magnet Notes:
● For the background, we used scrapbook paper with large enough eggs to click out and use for the border. You can use lightweight felt eggs if you like. Other cute easter ideas would be bunnies, chickies, etc.
● This craft does not use glitter. You could definitely rim your eggs with glue and then sprinkle blue, yellow, green, or pink glitter around the eggs to make them pop!
● Definitely hot glue the container closed if little hands will be playing with these (or your kitchen will look like a glitter bomb went off when that small child opens this).
● You could probably use goop on this but remember to let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.
5 Minute Craft: Easter Eggs Magnet Materials:
● 1 Magnetic Container (we used a Jot)
● 1 Sheet Easter Eggs Scrapbooking Paper
● Pencil
● Scissors
● Glue Gun
● Glue Sticks
● Filler (sparkly dots, glitter, faux snow, etc) In this craft we used the faux snow with a little bit of gold sparkly dots as it could remind people of eggs.
5 Minute Craft: Easter Eggs Magnet Directions:
● Trace an outline of the back of your magnetic tin onto your scrapbook paper.
● Cut out the circle. Set the remaining scrapbook paper aside.
● Insert the circle of scrapbook paper into the magnetic tin to make sure it fits. Make any adjustments necessary.
● Hot glue the back of the circle of scrapbook paper, and then press the hot glue side down into the open magnetic container.
● Add some filler – this is faux snow and a little bit of gold sparkly dots.
● Hot glue top of the container to the bottom of the container (this is optional, but if you have small children handling these, do it!)
● Using the set aside remaining Easter Egg scrapbook paper, cut out a number of eggs. You will need enough to overlap and surround the whole magnet tin. Lay them out on the tin as you go, or before you begin hot gluing to make certain you have enough cutout eggs, and that they are the desired colors you like.
● Hot glue a portion of the rim of the exterior of the magnetic container and then immediately place the cutout Easter eggs on top of the hot glue. Press in place.
● Continue hot gluing the cutout paper Easter eggs around the tin until the whole tin is surrounded.
● Display as desired.
