5 Minute Craft: Valentine’s Day Heart Magnet
I have a bunch of these easy 5 minute crafts coming in 2019. They are super-duper cute and very easy to make. My niece came up with this idea after spotting these sweet little magnetic containers at Bed, Bath and Beyond. So, we made one. We were both thrilled with how it came out (it is a Christmas one), but the cost of the magnetic container was $5.99 (well, $4.80 after the 20% off coupon EVERYONE uses when they shop BB&B), and so even though that first magnet was simple and cute, we were undecided if we wanted to do more.
Then guess what happened!? She found them at the dollar store! A buck!! A buck!! This whole entire craft now cost $2 to make, and was done in 5 minutes. #winner
So get thee to your local dollar store and stock up on these magnetic containers because I’ve got a number of these little crafts coming… one for every season and a buncha holidays. They really are adorable.
Funny story (you know it is funny because I am priming you to believe it is funny) – my great-grandniece LOVES magnets. And I mean loves, love, LOVES magnets. My brother (it is his granddaughter) has tons of magnets on the side of his refrigerator and stove just so she can yank them down, and then put them back up (hey, she’s two – this is what two-year-olds do).
When she was over for Christmas, the array of these magnets I made with my niece were on the side of our fridge because I had not yet photographed them, but needed to “store” them somewhere safe.
Ut oh, I forgot about her propensity to whip magnets off the fridge… I was sure we’d be remaking them for final photos when I saw her in the hall next to the refrigerator.
Well, she pulled off and put back every other magnet she could reach on the side of that fridge (Hubby, regardless of what I say, keeps all sorts of stuff magnetized there) but didn’t touch these! Apparently, they were too pretty. The little sparkly and snowy bits inside were intriguing enough to look at, but not pull off the side of the fridge.
*sigh* Can you tell I want grandchildren? That Sonny-boy…

5 Minute Craft Valentine’s Day Heart Magnet Notes:
● For the back, ground we used scrapbook paper. You could easily use a child’s photograph as the background and then give this to grandma and/or grandpa for Valentine’s Day or Sweetest Day.
● Some of the glitter may come off the outside of your container with handling.
● Definitely hot glue the container closed if little hands will be playing with these (or your kitchen will look like a glitter bomb went off when that small child opens this).
● You could probably use goop on this but remember to let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.
