Tips and variations for making this Santa gnome ornament:
● Sock gnomes are easy to make because the sewing is already done. You are cutting and gluing, making this a no-sew craft, perfect for someone without a sewing machine or whose sewing machine skills are not the greatest.
● If you don’t have time to paint the needles with acrylic paint, they can be spray painted to speed up the painting time.
● If you do not have pine needles in your area, you can buy fake white ones on Amazon.
● A piece of a white fuzzy sock was used for the gnome’s Santa hat trim. You could use faux fur for the white gnome’s hat trim if you like. It’s just another way to change this craft and make it your own!
● This is not using faux fur for the gnome beard; it uses pine needles instead to make a white beard.
● This uses a wooden bead for the nose. I like it best. If you prefer a pom pom, small wooden balls, etc., to make this cute little gnome. As always, homemade crafts are made according to your preference. Gnome noses don’t have to be anything specific. I just wouldn’t use a cotton ball. Use something more substantial that will last.
● There isn’t a gnome body on this craft. The fullness of the ornament comes from the pine needle beard. How you manage the beard shape is entirely up to you.
● Other than the hot glue gun and the pine needles, all other supplies can be bought at a dollar store or dollar tree.
● Materials for this Santa gnome can be purchased online or at your local JoAnn, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby.

Santa Gnome Ornament Materials Needed:
● Hot Glue Sticks
● Red Fuzzy Sock
● Piece Of White Fuzzy Material
● Large White Pom Pom
● Red Ribbon
● Pine Needles (how many depends on how full you want the beard; a handful is what was used)
● White Craft Paint
● Large Wooden Bead
Santa Gnome Ornament Tools Needed:
● Scissors
● Hot Glue Gun
● Paper Plate or Paint Palette
● 2 Large Cups (optional)
● Wood Skewer (optional)
● Paint Brush
How to Make a Santa Gnome Ornament Directions:
1. Paint all of the pine needles white and allow them to dry. These were hung over a wood skewer and put between two cups to allow them time to dry.
2. While the paint is drying, you can make the rest of the gnome.
3. The next step is to make the Santa hat. Cut the sock off right at the heel. Cut as straight as you can or trim to make it straight.
4. Turn that cut/ankle area inside out.
5. Cut a piece of ribbon that is about eight inches long. Then, fold the ribbon into a loop and glue it to the sock.
6. Turn it back right side out. Then, using the hot glue, carefully start gathering and gluing until the top of the hat is closed with the ribbon loop still sticking out.
7. Glue the white pompom on the top in front of the ribbon.
8. Glue the white fabric around the bottom open area of the gnome hat. Have it overlap/meet in the back. I allowed my fabric edges to roll/fold down before gluing to give a clean edge.
9. When the paint is dry on the pine needles, start gluing them in place. I glued them on the inside of the opening to the bottom side. Stack the pine needles on top of each other and change the angles to get your desired beard look.
10. The last step is to glue the wood ball bead in place for the gnome’s nose. Glue the gnome nose in the center just under the white band. I tucked mine slightly underneath. Then, glue the opening closed.
11. Display as desired.
