Tips and variations for making this St. Patrick’s Day Gnome DIY:
● Make sure your plastic bottle is clean and dry.
● If you do not have a green bottle, use school glue (Elmer’s will dry clear) and green glitter to change your bottle to green.
● If worried about the gnome being knocked over easily, you can fill the bottle part the way with rice or clean play sand.
● If you do not wish to use the reddish yarn for a beard, a white beard, red beard, or brown beard will work, either in yarn or in fake fur.
● The shamrock applique is optional. You can use any, or no, embellishments that you like! Maybe a pot of gold? A gold coin? Anything that will look good on a green hat.
● You should be able to find all craft supplies at Dollar Tree other than the hot glue gun.
● Materials for this Irish gnome can be purchased online or at your local JoAnn, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby.

St. Patrick’s Day Gnome DIY Materials:
● 1 Green Glass Bottle (washed and label removed)
● Large Piece Of Foil
● 2 Hot Glue Sticks
● Small Wood Bead
● 1 8″x12″ Sheet of Green Felt
● Redish Orange Yarn (or fake fur)
● Shamrock Appliques/Embellishments
St. Patrick’s Day Gnome DIY Tools:
● Scissors
● Hot Glue Gun
St. Patrick’s Day Gnome DIY Directions:
1. Roll the felt so that it shapes a cone. Glue the felt cone in place where the felt meets at the ends using a hot glue gun. It is good to overlap the felt a little.
2. Next, trim off the uneven part at the bottom of the felt using a pair of scissors.
3. Now, take the foil and ball it up to form a cone shape about half the size of the felt cone.
4. Carefully insert the shaped foil inside the felt cone. Then bend it slightly so that it puts a curve in the upper part of the cone/hat.
5. Cut 19 or so 4-6 inch pieces of yarn. Glue them about ½ inch inside the front side of the cone without the seam.
6. Now, carefully untwist the yarn so that it starts to fringe and look more like hair. You can leave the hair the length it is, or you can take the scissors and trim the hair so that it is more V-shaped.
7. At the edge of the felt in the center of the glued yarn, glue the wood bead in place for a nose. I put it so that it is slightly under the felt.
8. Now glue the shamrock to the felt cone/hat.
9. Place the gnome topper on top of the clean green bottle.
10. Display as desired.
