Make your own Rudolph spoon for the holidays with these step by step instructions! From children to adults, this adorable little “reindeer” will be your favorite craft this holiday season.
Wooden Spoon Craft: Rudolph Spoon Puppet
These would be great for a kid’s puppet show (obviously) or to stick in floral foam as part of a centerpiece. If you have indoor herbs and spices growing, these would also be adorable to plop in the pot for Christmas decor!
You could also tie a candy around the stem, then cover with the ribbon, and use these as a cute little take home Christmas brunch or dinner favor. Add a name to that candy and it becomes a name card for your holiday dinner table!
Notes:
● All the materials necessary to make this easy little reindeer spoon craft can be purchased at at JoAnn, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby
● The dollar stores sell wooden spoons and googly eyes.
● The dollar stores sell Christmas ribbon.
● You could use brown chalk paint (as it dries very quickly) and draw faces on the spoons with chalk if you like.
Wooden Spoon Craft: Rudolph Spoon Puppet Materials:
● Wooden Cooking Spoon
● Paint Palette or Paper Plate or Other Small Paint Holder
● Brown Paint
● Paintbrush
● Googly Eyes
● Small Red Craft Pom Pom
● Black Marker
● 2 Black Pipe Cleaners
● Holiday Ribbon
● Glue Gun (low temp)
● Hot Glue
● Scissors
Wooden Spoon Craft: Rudolph Spoon Puppet Directions:
● Cover your work surface in case of spills. You can use a disposable tablecloth, cardboard, newspaper, etc. If your children are doing this craft, you really want that work surface covered!
● Use brown craft paint to paint all sides of a wooden cooking spoon.
● Once the paint has dried, attach two googly eyes to the front of the face towards the top.
● Use a glue gun to attach a small red craft pom pom just below the eyes on the front of your spoon.
● With a black marker, make a small circle shape for the reindeer’s mouth just below the red pom pom nose.
● Cut one longer section and two shorter sections from a black pipe cleaner. Repeat the process with the other black pipe cleaner.
● Shape the longer sections of pipe cleaner into an antler shape, and attach the smaller sections of pipe cleaner to each of them to form antler-like projections from the main piece. These will be Rudolph’s antlers.
● Attach the antlers to the back of the wooden spoon with hot glue, place one antler on each side of the reindeer’s head.
● Tie a piece of holiday colored ribbon around the bottom of the top portion of the spoon like it was being placed around Rudolph’s neck. This will serve as his scarf.
