Ah yes, my Hubby. Life is seldom dull in the Ann’s Entitled Life household… even when it concerns paint. And corners. And Freezers. And eight square feet.
For the last two years – keep in mind that I said years this box was on the side of our freezer:
No, it was not set up. No the shelf was was not being used. It was a box. By the side of the freezer. For two years.
Whenever I would ask about the status of said box and its contents, Hubby would tell me he’d get to it “soon”. Never a real date, just “soon”.
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, this is the definition of “soon”:
1 a obsolete : at once : immediately
b : without undue time lapse : before long
2 : in a prompt manner : speedily
3 archaic : before the usual time
No where do I see two years in that definition.
Well of course over that two year time span I forgot what the empty spot by the side of the freezer actually looked like. And, we started to put little things on top of the shelving box – a de facto holding shelf for items that needed to go out to the garage or car. And, at some point in the last two years, I stopped asking when the shelf would be moved (forget used… that I never expected to see). I accepted that cardboard box as part of our kitchen decor.
So imagine my surprise when Hubby moved the box a few weeks ago!
I honestly forgot what the side of the freezer looked like! The shelf wasn’t set-up (of course), but that box now resides at the foot of the basement stairs!
Hey, baby steps. At least it is no longer in the kitchen.
This empty space lasted less then a day. I should have known something was up. No way was Hubby going to move a box that sat there for two years “bothering no one” according to him, without an ulterior motive.
This was what motivated him:
Yup, paint for his rentals.
This is definitely a case of be careful what you wish for! A box that sorta faded into the freezer-work (hey, wood-work made no sense), or 20 gallons of paint.
I never thought I’d miss the box.

Ann, You can build that shelf, I have several like it and have built them all by my little, (little I really am not), self to put my stockpile stuff on. This from a woman who can’t screw in a light bulb, I just call my son and tell him I need the air conditioner filter changed, the light bulbs changed, and show me how to work my IPhone, please.

Thanks Candie. He actually bought it years ago for himself… to organize his room down the basement. Since the shelf is still in the box, and that was two years ago, you can image what that room looks like now!

And what amazes me is that IF he took the shelf out of the box and assembled it, in the basement, he would actually have a place to store his paint. Ah husbands. We love them We hate them but we cant live without them, at least I can’t . LOL.

Ah Ann. Thanks for the laugh! It’s been one of those weeks for me. Glad it’s over & this brought a loud “Ha, ha, ha!” that hubby says he hadn’t heard all week. (It’s nice to know he still listens………..sometimes I wonder!)

Sad part Mel? He bought a 1400 square foot storage garage specifically to store his crap – and we still end up with stuff like this in the house!
