Ah, my poor Hubby. Sometimes I think I pick on him just to provoke blog material. Then I come to my senses and realize this all comes naturally, and I am just lucky he provides me with er, stories I can share.
See this:
… the thermos, not the flower thingie.
That thermos has been sitting on the window ledge, unopened, with contents since Hubby last went hunting – in November!
I told him last month I was tossing that thermos if he didn’t clean it and put it away. This was after numerous “reminders” that he needed to clean the darned thing and put it away – since November!
Since there is a small amount of fluids left inside it (I have no idea what), I am sure it will smell real purdy when opened.
With all of this in mind…
Yesterday the cleaning ladies came in. I always put away the clutter before they arrive. Hubby just happened to walk into the kitchen as I spied that thermos in my final sweep of the room. I told him I was tossing the thermos if he didn’t clean it.
The response was pretty much as expected:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO …
You’re pressuring me!
Why don’t you just do it!? (ok this one was said with a laugh… he knew there was no way!)
You’re so wasteful!
You give these arbitrary ultimatums …
Yeah, Hubby can certainly come up with some doozies when cornered. The thermos? I need to toss it on garbage day. I can’t imagine how rancid whatever is in there must be, although I do have to say I am impressed with the seal… I have not smelled anything coming from the container in the last six months!

Sounds like my 23 year old step-son who I think is trapped in an 8 year old’s mind. 😉
I would have thrown it away a long time ago..

Yeah this one he is going tp cry about when it happens… but he will not be able to say he wasn’t warned.

I say let the cleaning ladies deal with it! You sound like my grandmother. She use to clean up before her aides would arrive and then clean again when they leave lol!

Nope, never clean before the cleaning ladies. Ever. That is what I they are paid to do. However, decluttering before the cleaning ladies arrive leads to a better, more complete, job.

Forgive me but I’m more interested in the composition of the window ledge!
That looks NICE!
Is that tile or natural stone-& that trim edge-aluminum? No way-wouldn’t look so nice.
In the planning stages (literally drawing up plans) for a new house and that’s just the sort of detail that appeals to me. (That and a built-in tornado shelter. Yeah, that’s a priority: tornado shelter.)

It is a porcelain tile that mimics slate. This was in place when we bought the house. My guess (just a guess) is that porcelain is a great bang for the buck, everyone thinks it is slate, and it is not hard on the legs, so that may be why it was chosen.
Hubby would also like to know what the banding is, LOL. He wants to use it in his rentals. He needs to do some research on it.
I will tell you that the former owners had an interior designer in for this kitchen (they left us his info). Everyone who sees it compliments the kitchen and some of the features are unusual without being “out there”. From the flooring matching the counterparts (and island top) to the backsplash and none of it is overwhelming (these are either 16 or 18″ tiles, we never measured), to the anaglypta wallpaper on the ceiling! to the two stoves, stand alone freezer and stand alone refrigerator, the guy that designed this kitchen really did an outstanding job.
Yeah that was some wallop your area got yesterday! I hope there was no damage to you and yours, Barbee.

We’re great-all we lost was some sleep. We were lucky.
Thanks! Sweet of you to ask.
I’ll let you know if I come across that banding/edging. I see a need for it since it’s the edges that seem to get the most abuse. (Them and the corners of the wall that stick out and get banged all the time. ) I like tile that mimics stone. I’m a big fan of both metals and natural materials so what you got was “made to order”.

This looks like ‘it’. The edging/protective trim is sold @ Home Depot.
