Christmas 2014 has come and gone, and all that remains is to throw away the wrappings, and finding a place to stash all the new stuff. I highly recommend donating some of the old to make way for the new! Purge, purge, purge!
We have Christmas Eve dinner at the Ann’s Entitled Life household. Sometimes it is family and friends (or passing European exchange students), sometimes just family. This year, it was just family. My one brother and his family cancelled at the last minute – apparently they have the flu that is sweeping the country.
After dinner, we retire to the living room for after dinner cocktails, and to exchange a few gifts with whoever won’t be at my parent’s house the following morning. For a few years now, we’ve been trying to talk my mother into not having a gift exchange at her house Christmas morning at 11am, and to just have it at our house on Christmas Eve.
And every year she tells me, “I’ll think about it”. And every year we end up at my parent’s house at 11am Christmas morning.
I am fairly certain that she is giving in next year, and we will do all the gift exchanging at our house in 2015. She recently turned 70, and my father’s health isn’t that great. No matter what, it is hectic and exhausting to have a buncha people tromp into your house to exchange gifts, and of course my mother isn’t letting anyone leave hungry, so she puts out a “small” spread (the way a Chinese Buffet is “small”), and we all eat!
And then we go to dinner at 5pm!
No wonder we add five pounds in just two days around these parts.
As far as what I received for Christmas: Sonny-boy got my a movie gift card and a gift card to a restaurant he hates, and I like. And we are using both up today! My parents got me clothes (no matter how old you are, your mother always buys you clothes!), a few miscellaneous household goods from my nieces, and Hubby bought me a beautiful sapphire necklace!
Today is day three of Christmas Eve dishes, and while they are all clean, they still need to be put away. It never ends.
All-in-all except for my brother being sick, we had an uneventful, but nice, Christmas.
So How Was Your Christmas? How did you celebrate? Get Anything Good?
