Top 8 Essential Oils to Enhance Your Mood
Alternative medicine and all-natural treatments have become increasingly popular, so it’s not at all surprising that the interest in essential oils and their effects are now common topics of discussion. With all the information out there, it can be confusing trying to decide which essential oils should be used to balance and improve moods. Below is a list of some of the best essential oils you can use to enhance your mood.
Bergamot is a citrus-y, slightly sweet oil that has been used to relieve stress fro centuries. Taken from bitter oranges, bergamot has also been used to treat fatigue and emotional outbursts. The scent of this oil causes the mind to relax, allowing conflict to be looked at positively and improving overall attitude.
Like Bergamot, lemon is part of the citrus family and has a citrus scent. The smell of lemon has an overall calming effect on the body. It helps clarify the mind and balance out extreme emotions, such as depression, anger, or stress. Putting a drop of essential lemon oil in a cup of tea or hot water is a great way to use the extract.
<Rose Oil has been a highly valued essential oil for centuries. Traditionally, it was used to help women who suffered from “nerves”, but now its benefits are used for anyone who needs to improve their mood. The rose petals have their oils extracted and can be used to relieve stress and the many body aches that come with being anxious.
This purple blossom has long been used as a natural treatment for anxiety, stress, and tension. Like rose oil, lavender oil started out as a treatment for nervousness, but has now proven itself extremely multifunctional. Lavender oil has even been used to help those who suffer from horrible headaches and migraines.
Warm and sweet in smell, Jasmine oil is frequently used by those who need their moods boosted due to depression. For those who feel overworked or extremely tired, jasmine may provide mental relief. It has also been used to increase energy and self-confidence.
A favorite cooking herb, rosemary also has the hidden ability to give minds the sharpness and clarity they lack after a long day. Almost like a cup of coffee, Rosemary Essential Oil stimulates a foggy mind. It has also been used to help improve memory.
Not only is Geranium oil a great additive to aid in skin moisturizing treatments, but it also may be used as a mood stabilizer. For those who suffer from mood swings, geranium oil may be an amazing natural way to bring back a little stability. It may also relieve stress, which in turn leads to a happier, more relaxed state of being.
Chamomile has been used for centuries as a tea and prior to that as an external herbal remedy. Chamomile soothes and calms, both as a tea and as an essential oil. Those who aren’t sleeping well or wake up moody should consider taking chamomile before sleeping.
