Easy Nutella® Thumbprint Cookies Recipe
Nutella lovers rejoice! and get ready to enjoy the perfect combination of chocolate-hazelnut goodness in every bite with this Nutella® Thumbprint Cookies recipe.
When Hubby and I took a long trip to Italy a few years ago, we visited Alba to do some wine tastings (and purchased Barbera wines). We had a guide do the tastings with us and drive us around the area. As we drove by the Ferrero factory and ohed and ah-ed over the idea of visiting. Our guide quickly disabused us of the notion saying it was, “Like the Willy Wonka Chocolate factory. You’d need a golden ticket to get in.”
That was a bummer. Apparently, Ferrero Rocher does not have tours of any type.
Nevertheless, Nutella is one of my favorite “bad” foods; sugar, hazelnut, and cocoa… what’s not to love?
This is an easy cookie recipe to make. For best results just make sure to center your cookie dough balls with the dent, and do not overfill the center of the cookie and have all your cookies a uniform size for even baking. You’ll be adding this to your favorite cookie recipes list!
Tips and variations for making this Easy Nutella Thumbprint Cookies recipe:
● Make sure all the ingredients are at room temperature (Including Nutella). This ensures proper mixing.
● You can use the paddle attachment or the whisk attachment to make the cookie dough.
● While this is made with Nutella, you can substitute your favorite chocolate hazelnut spread.
● When the nutella cookies come out of the oven, sprinkle a little bit of chocolate shavings to the top for a delicious twist!
● You can use a tablespoon or a cookie scoop to measure out the cookie dough. The important thing is consistent in size so all your cookies bake at the same rate.
● If you do not want to spoon hazelnut chocolate into the cookie centers, and do not have a piping bag, but a small corner of a plastic bag (baggie or Ziploc) and use that instead.
● You can store them in an airtight jar at room temperature for 5-6 days. You can freeze these cookies for about 2 months. To freeze first, put the Nutella cookies on a baking sheet and then flash-freeze in the freezer until solid. Then, transfer the cookies to an airtight container to store in the freezer.
