Tips and notes for making these snow globe cookies:
● When you dip the oreo cookie into the melted candy, make sure the edges of the cookies are fully covered in candy, as well as the back of the cookie. These will stand (if you like), so covering all surfaces is important.
● You can use this royal icing recipe (confectioners’ sugar, meringue powder) to make white royal icing plus the colors needed (in separate bowls) for each of the snow globe designs.
● You can also purchase royal icing and color it as needed. Mix a small amount of food gel into the prepurchased royal icing in a separate small bowl for each color.
● I would not use vanilla frosting for this recipe. Use the royal icing for its hardening capabilities.
● The colors and designs here are being done freehand. You can make any design you like.
● White and blue candy melts were used to make these winter scenes. Use any colors you like.
● The simple ingredients used in this snow globe cookies recipe are commonly found in the baking aisle of your local grocery store. Candy melts can also be found in craft stores such as Joann, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or purchased online
● Use wax paper, not parchment paper. The candy melts on the cookie are removed much easier from wax paper.
● If the chocolate wafer base is wider than the cookie, use an additional Oreo underneath to prop up the cookie and allow the base to dry completely and straight.
● Instead of sprinkles, use coconut for the snow!
● Instead of white sprinkles, use snowflake sprinkles! Even if you only use a few in the background to set the winter scene, they can be a great addition to these snow globe cookies.
● Some additional decoration ideas: Gold Pearls, White Pearls, White Nonpareils, Hard candy (crushed), basically anything you might find in your sprinkle drawer to make a holiday Christmas scene
● You can make the designs as elaborate or minimalist as you like.
● If you want to make sugar cookies and then decorate those baked cookies as snow globes, you could. Try this great sugar cookie recipe. They might not stand, however.
● These cookies can be adapted for other holidays and special occasions. It is just based on the design you draw on top of the cookies.

Easy Snow Globe Cookies Recipe Directions
1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Set aside.
2. In the microwave, melt the blue and white candy melts together at 20-second intervals at 50% power until the candy melts are smooth when stirred.
3. Dip the Oreo cookies into the melted candy, thoroughly coating the cookie, including the edges of the cookie. Tap the cookie against the bowl to remove any excess. Place the cookie on a baking sheet that has been lined with wax paper and allow the candy-covered cookies to set for 10 minutes.
4. Using white royal icing, trace out the design that you would like to make on your snow globes on the top of the cookie. Allow the wet icing to sit for 15-20 minutes to harden.
5. Next, use the royal icing to flood the design (filling in the open space on the design). Add any sprinkles, sugar, decorator pearls, etc., to the wet icing on the snow globe cookie at this stage to ensure that the sprinkles or sugar will stick. Allow the cookies to dry for at least one hour.
6. Once dry, using the white icing, squeeze out a small amount of icing onto the chocolate wafer melt and press the chocolate piece against the bottom of the snow globe cookie. Allow the icing to harden for an hour. The end result is a beautiful snow globe cookie! Lay them on their sides or stand them up on the chocolate platform.
7. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry space.
