Can you substitute frozen spinach for fresh spinach in this recipe?
Frozen spinach comes in a 10-ounce package which is approximately one pound of fresh spinach. This recipe calls for 8-ounces of fresh spinach, so the substitute would be 5-ounces of frozen spinach. Thaw the frozen spinach, and squeeze dry to remove most of the water. Continue with the steam step and beyond.
Tips for Making Fresh Spinach Artichoke Hot Dip
● This bakes in a pan and you may serve it in the pan or transfer to a bowl.
● To make a more traditional appetizer out of this spinach and artichoke dip, you could toast some crostini bread, place a spoonful of the dip on top (spread a tad with a knife if you like), add a sliver of brie to the hot-dip (thin so it can melt), and sprinkle with a smidge of fresh Parmesan. Yum!
● This recipe uses a 9″x5″ baking dish. In a pinch, you can substitute a 10″ pie plate. Do watch the baking times though as I have not done it, and I am not sure how long it will take to cook.
