New York State is the second largest apple producing state. We have apple orchards that surround the hunting land. We also have organic apple trees on the hunting land that hubby will harvest each fall. We have no idea what type of apples they are, but they are firm, sweet-tart, and very delicious.

● Northern Spy – tangy, robust, firm but juicy

How do you make an apple pie from scratch?
1. Prep – Preheat the oven to 400°F.
2. Combine – sliced apples, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice in a bowl. Mix well.
3. Crust – Roll out the pie crust bottom and place in a pie plate.
4. Filling – Place the apples in the pie crust, and top with the pie lattice
5. Bake – Bake for 35 minutes. Allow to cool.
6. Serve – Once cool, you can serve with ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy!
Tips and Variations for this Homemade Fresh Apple Pie Recipe:
● You can use apple combinations instead of sticking with one type of apple.
● This easy pie crust dough was used in making this apple pie. You can also use a pre-made crust.
● Alternative to the lattice pattern you can, roll out the second pie dough and drape it over the filling. Crimp the edges and then cut a few slits on the top crust to allow steam to vent.

● 2 Pie Crusts
● 6 cups Fresh Apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
● 3 TBSP All-Purpose Flour
● 1 TBSP Cornstarch
● ½ cup White Granulated Sugar
● 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
● ¼ tsp Ground Nutmeg
● ½ tsp ground Allspice
● 2 TBSP Butter, cubed
● 1 large Egg, beaten with a teaspoon of water
● 1 TBSP Raw Sugar

● Stand Mixer, bowl and beaters
● Spatula
● Measuring Spoons
● Measuring Cup
● Rolling Pin
● 9″ Pie Plate
● Knife or Wheel Cutter
Homemade Fresh Apple Pie Recipe Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Prepare pie dough if not using a pre-made crust. This easy pie crust dough was used in the making of this apple pie.
3. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Mix well.
4. Roll out one half of the pie dough into an 11-inch circle.
5. Drape the rolled out pie dough circle over a 9-inch pie plate, letting it overhang a little.
6. Add the fresh apple filling mixture to the pie plate and smoothen it out.
7. Dot the top with cubed butter.
8. Now, roll out the remaining pie dough and cut into even strips.
9. Place the pie dough strips vertically on top of the filling. Next, fold back alternate vertical strips and weave a lattice by placing the pie dough strips horizontally. Continue weaving till the lattice pattern is complete.
10. Trim the ends and fold the trimmed edge of the bottom crust over the ends of strips. Seal the edge and flute.
11. Whisk the egg with a teaspoon of water and bush the top of the pie.
12. Sprinkle raw sugar over the pie crust.
13. Bake at 400°F for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is all bubbly.
14. Let the apple pie cool to room temperature, before slicing and serving.
15. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream or whipped cream.
