Homemade Star Cookies Recipe

A fun and festive star cookie treat, perfect for summer picnics, Independence Day celebrations and more! This delicious vanilla dough and accompanying vanilla frosting recipe will have your friends and family gobbling up these tasty Homemade Star Cookies!
Prep Time: 30 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 Minutes
Cookie Ingredients:
● 1 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
● 1½ cups Sugar
● 1 Egg
● 1 TBSP Vanilla Extract
● 2¼ cups All Purpose Flour
● ½ tsp Baking Powder
● ½ tsp Salt
Frosting Ingredients:
● ½ Cup Butter, softened
● 2oz Cream Cheese, softened
● 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
● 2½ cups Confectioners Sugar
● 3 TBSP Red, White and Blue Sprinkle Mix
Directions:
● Preheat oven to 350°.
● Line baking sheets with parchment paper; set aside.
● Using a stand mixer, beat together unsalted butter and sugar.
● Mix in egg and vanilla; beat well.
● Gradually add in flour, baking powder, and salt; mix until a thick dough is formed.
● Roll out dough on a flat, floured surface a rolling pin.
● Use a star cookie-cutter to cut out star shapes by pressing firmly into the dough.
● Transfer star cut outs to the parchment lined cookie sheet.
● Bake at 350° 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
● Remove cookies from oven, transfer to a wire baking rack. Allow cookies to cool completely.
● Use your smaller star cookie cutter to make an indent in your large star cookies.
● To make the frosting:
● Cream together butter and cream cheese.
● Add vanilla extract; mix well.
● Gradually add in confectioners sugar; mix well.
● Using a straight tip, fill piping bag (or disposable decorating bag) with frosting. Trace star indent with frosting, fill in small star with more frosting.
● Top with red, white and blue sprinkles.
● Allow frosting to dry before serving.
● Makes 36 Star Cookies
