Low Carb Parmesan and Caraway Crackers Recipe
Who else is a cheese lover!? I certainly am. Making your own crackers (or cracker chips) is an easy recipe. Double or triple the recipe for a great TV snack, game day snack, or party food. This is yummy, cheesy goodness.
Notes:
● Recipes do not get any easier than this. These are great little snack crackers for cheese lovers or low carb dieters.
● A 3.5oz of chunk Parmesan cheese should be equal to one cup of shredded Parmesan cheese. I listed this as 4 servings (four (4) chips) for ease of distribution (this recipe should make 16 low carb crackers), but if the actual serving is one ounce of cheese, then the actual low carb Parmesan and caraway crackers serving is 4.5 chips. I cannot imagine people would break a chip in half to get the full serving. If you are like me you are more likely to eat eight chips to make up for that missing half chip.
● I make something very similar to this with mozzarella cheese. You can try basil flakes, red pepper flakes, or parsley flakes for the herb. Mozzarella chips will be much softer, however, so check on the cook time if you try and substitute cheeses. You may have to adjust cooking time and walk the fine line between overdone and chip-like (this note is if you choose to try a different cheese).
Low Carb Parmesan and Caraway Crackers Ingredients:
● 1 cup Parmesan Cheese, shredded
● 1 tsp Caraway seeds
Low Carb Parmesan and Caraway Crackers Mise en Place:
● Bowl
● Spoon
● Grater
● Cupcake Pan
● Baking Rack
Low Carb Parmesan and Caraway Crackers Directions:
● Preheat oven to 350°F.
● Shred Parmesan cheese (if not already shredded).
● In a bowl, combine the Parmesan cheese and the caraway seeds together.
● Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the mixture into each bottom of a cupcake tin.
● Bake in the oven for 3 – 6 minutes, until the cheese has completely melted.
● Remove from the oven and let cool slightly and until the cheese sets up.
● Remove the crackers to completely cool and crisp up.
