One-Bowl Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
These chocolate chip cookies are great for packing in lunches for back to school, and your kids will love biting into these homemade cookies! They are extra soft and gooey when they first come out of the oven – a favorite time to eat them. Who doesn’t love warm chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven?
Make up a batch, and keep some out in an airtight container and then freezing the rest. Simply layer a few baked one-bowl whole wheat chocolate chip cookies into a freezer bag, and pull out a few at a time. They are great to toss in lunches frozen because by lunch they should be thawed.
Another great way is heating them up in the microwave for a few seconds, they will get a little warm and the chocolate chips will melt a little! Heaven, I tell ya! You can double and even triple this recipe, and it works great.
If you would like to freeze the uncooked cookie dough for later, that works too. Simply spoon out the individual cookie dough, flash freeze on a baking sheet, remove, and then layer in a freezer bag (label the bag with oven temp and cook time) and then toss in the freezer. By flash freezing first (that just means freeze for 15-30 minutes uncovered on the cookie tray) the cookies will not stick together in the bag, and you can grab and make them easier. Then when you are craving a cookie or two, bake as needed.
Since these cookies are a one-bowl recipe, they make it great for containing kitchen-mess. I used whole wheat pastry flour, which makes these extra delicious, and takes out that dense “wheat-y” taste some recipes might leave you with. This is my go-to recipes for chocolate chip cookies, and the family loves them. While this recipe uses semi-sweet chocolate chips to add another layer of rich chocolate, but you can always use milk or dark chocolate chips if you prefer.
