Tips and variations for making this pumpkin bread braid recipe:
● Don’t have any pumpkin pie spice on hand? Just combine a ¼ teaspoon each of cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cloves, and nutmeg.
For better results, bring your eggs and butter to room temperature.
● Use leftovers for Pumpkin Spice French Toast.
● Be sure to use pumpkin puree, NOT pumpkin pie filling.
● Not a lot of the pumpkin flavor comes through in this recipe. The delicious pumpkin flavor is actually a hint of pumpkin with warm spices. You will not be overwhelmed by the pumpkin spice flavor.
● If you do not have a stand mixer or a dough hook, this recipe can easily be made by kneading the ingredients by hand. It takes quite a bit longer, but absolutely can be done.
● No favorite mix-ins, but you can try pumpkin seeds, pumpkin spice, or other flavorings. Let me know how they worked out!
● This recipe is made with ingredients commonly found in your local grocery store.
● Store leftovers in a ziploc bag or an airtight container on the counter.
● This recipe can be frozen for up to 4 months by putting the bread in a ziploc bag, tight plastic wrap (freezer wrap), aluminum foil, or an airtight container. If you plan on freezing this bread, don’t slice it until it is thawed. Thaw on the counter when ready to eat.

1. In a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of warm water with the yeast. Let stand for about 5 minutes or until it is frothy.
2. In a large mixing bowl of a stand mixer, using the dough hook, combine the pumpkin puree, 1 egg, brown sugar, butter, pumpkin pie spice, salt, yeast mixture, and 1 cup of flour. Mix on low and add the additional 1 and ½ cups of flour slowly until a sticky dough forms.
3. Turn and knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
