Hubby is always saying he doesn’t get enough fruits or vegetables in his diet, so when he told me about a quick fruit-liquor his mother makes, I decided to give it a go.
Liquored Fruit
3 pints Fresh Berries (I used raspberries and blueberries)
1 cup White Rum
1 cup White Sugar
● Place fruit in bowl that has a cover
● Add sugar, mix
● Add rum, cover bowl
● Refrigerate covered overnight
Now in and of itself this is very good! But Hubby wasn’t eating the fruit mixture alone, so I decided to get out the old blender, give it a whirl and see if he would drink the fruit mix.
Success! This is a fruit drink with a kick. Sweet, not tart (you all know how I like sweet), and it goes down very smooth! Hubby admitted he liked his mom’s fruit mix blended, and drank several glasses over the course of a few days! That was the bonus… the alcohol allowed the fruit to keep for days without turning funky. I actually had the covered fruit in the fridge for several days and just decided to blender it in the hopes of someone actually consuming the fruit. And this idea succeeded admirably.
Have you ever made fruit with liquor? Ever given it a whirl through a blender? What did you use for fruit and liquor, and how did it taste?
As always, drink responsibly and please don’t drink and drive.

I have some raspberries and blueberries that need used up. I think I will try this with vodka. That all I have on hand and I just got home from the store. Thanks for the recipe.

I just went and mixed this up. I decided that after it sits in the fridge bit and then after I blend it, I am going to put it in the freezer. That should make a super adult slushie!

Let me know how that works, Shell. Hubby suggested it but I didn’t do it. It may very well make an awesome slushie!

The slushie worked very well. I really enjoyed it. You just have to watch out because I didn’t really taste the vodka and had a buzz on before I was even half done 🙂
