A while back Hubby and I stopped at a wine store we like in Corning. This store has aisles and aisles of NYS wines. One of the wines we chose is Anthony Road Tony’s Red Wine.
There wasn’t much information on the site about this red:
Tony’s Red, White and Blush: these are lighter style semi-sweet table wines made with grapes such as Rougeon and Cayuga White.
They did have this motto: Remember, the best wine is the one that YOU like best! Wine words to live by!!
My Notes
According to Cornell, the Rougeon grape – which we are concerned about for a red – is hardy and very productive but sometimes exhibits a biennial pattern of bearing. The wine is of high color and is used primarily for blending.
Because there aren’t any vintner’s notes on the website, I had no idea what to expect when I poured the first glass. I found the color er, red, almost no bouquet, but oh my! what a sweet little red – literally. It was fruity and refreshing – a great wine to drink with pasta, or on its own.
Retailing for about $9 a bottle, this is well worth the price, and we will definitely be buying this one again!
As always, drink responsibly and please don’t drink and drive.
